Disc Brakes vs. Drum Brakes
In modern vehicles, there are brakes on all the wheels to give it more traction, so it can slow down or stop smoothly. Front brakes play a greater effect,when stopping, than the rear brakes because the car's weight is pushed forward to the front wheels. Therefore, many cars have disc brakes on the front tires because the metal pad creates friction to the car causing the car to slow down or stop immediately. The rear tires usually has drum brakes because the brake shoe is pushed against pushes against the interior of the wheel.
The Brake Hydraulics
When you press on the brake pedal, a piston depress into the master cylinder causing a fluid rush out into a pipe. The fluid travels through the slave cylinders at every wheel which fills the brake mechanisms with the liquid. This put weight on the brake which pushes the drum or disc brakes down to create friction on the wheel
